The Sweet-Loving Little Mouse

A sweet Halloween tale of a little mouse sharing candy.

Once upon a time, on a cozy autumn evening, there lived a tiny gray mouse named Pip in a quiet village. Pip was small even for a mouse, with shiny black eyes and a tail that always twitched when he was excited. And on this very special night, Pip was more excited than ever—it was Halloween.

All around the village, pumpkins glowed with warm orange light. Children laughed as they walked from door to door in colorful costumes, calling out, “Trick or treat!” Pip peeked out from behind a fence, his nose twitching as the sweet smell of candy filled the air.

“I wonder what Halloween candy tastes like,” Pip whispered to himself. He had never tasted candy before, only crumbs and cheese. Tonight, he decided, would be different.

Pip found a tiny orange leaf and tied it around his neck like a cape. “Now I have a costume!” he squeaked proudly. Carefully, he followed the children, staying close to the shadows. When a piece of candy dropped to the ground, Pip rushed over and tugged it behind a bush.

One candy became two, then three. Pip worked hard all night, dragging treats bigger than himself. He met friendly creatures along the way—a shy black cat who guarded a candy bowl, and a sleepy ghost decoration that fluttered in the wind and said “Boo!” in the softest voice.

Soon, Pip noticed something troubling. Near the old oak tree sat a little girl with an empty bucket. Her shoulders drooped, and her eyes looked sad.

“I lost all my candy,” she sniffed.

Pip’s heart felt warm and tight at the same time. He looked at his own candy pile, then back at the girl. After a moment, he made his choice.

With all his strength, Pip pushed the candy toward her bucket. The girl blinked in surprise as candies seemed to appear by magic.

“Thank you, Halloween fairy!” she laughed.

Pip smiled, even though no one could see him. He scampered back to his home with only one tiny candy left—a caramel wrapped in gold paper. It was enough.

Later that night, Pip curled up in his nest, holding the candy close. Halloween, he decided, wasn’t just about collecting sweets. It was about kindness, sharing, and a little bit of magic.

And from that day on, Pip was known as the sweetest little mouse in the village—inside and out.
