Long ago, an eagle was caught in a trap, struggling desperately to free itself. It beat its powerful wings again and again, but no matter how hard it tried, it could not escape. Though it was a strong and noble bird, the trap had left it helpless.
A farmer passing by noticed the eagle’s frantic movements. At first, he hesitated, unsure of what to do. Yet the sight of the suffering creature stirred his compassion. With patience and effort, the farmer managed to loosen the trap and set the eagle free.
As the bird stood before him, the farmer was struck by its beauty. Its shining feathers, sharp eyes, and proud posture filled him with admiration. After watching it for a moment, he said softly, “You were not meant to live in chains, but to soar freely in the sky.” Then he lifted his hands and released the eagle into the air. The eagle spread its wide wings and rose gracefully toward the heavens, circling above the farmer as if expressing gratitude.
From that day on, the eagle never forgot the man who had saved its life. It often returned to the same fields, hunting nearby while quietly watching the farmer from above. Each time the farmer saw the eagle, he felt a quiet joy, remembering the day he had helped it. The eagle, guided by an instinctive sense of loyalty, continued to fly over the farmer’s land.
One afternoon, after finishing his work, the farmer sat down to rest beside an old wall at the edge of his field. He gazed at his fertile crops, enjoying a peaceful moment. High above, the eagle observed everything carefully. It noticed that the wall was weak and crumbling. If it collapsed, the farmer would be in great danger.
Without hesitation, the eagle swooped down. In a swift motion, it snatched the farmer’s hat from his head and flew away. Startled, the farmer jumped to his feet. Not understanding the bird’s behavior, he chased after it to retrieve his hat. After leading him a short distance away, the eagle dropped the hat to the ground.
As the farmer bent down to pick it up, a loud crash echoed behind him. He turned and saw that the wall where he had been sitting had collapsed completely. Realizing what had happened, he whispered, “I could have been crushed.” Then he looked up at the sky with gratitude. “The eagle must have seen the danger and saved me.”
Far above, the eagle glided peacefully through the air.
From that day forward, the farmer never forgot how his act of kindness had returned to him in the most vital way. Whenever he spoke of it, he would say, “Kindness never goes unanswered.” And the eagle remained a silent hero in his life, flying freely in the sky while repaying its debt in its own way.
