Little Bear Learns to Share

Sharing makes every heart shine brighter.

In a cozy forest covered with soft white snow, Valentine’s Day had finally arrived.

All the animals were busy making beautiful cards for one another. The rabbits cut pink paper into hearts. The squirrels tied red ribbons around tiny gift boxes. Even the shy deer carefully wrote kind words on their cards.

But in a small wooden cabin near the river lived Little Bear.

Little Bear loved Valentine’s Day — especially the gifts.

“This year, I will make the biggest, most beautiful present,” he said proudly. “And I will keep it for myself!”

He gathered shiny paper, sweet honey candies, and colorful ribbons. He worked all morning, humming happily as he wrapped his special box.

Outside, laughter filled the forest.

Inside, Little Bear worked alone.

A Quiet Discovery

When he finally stepped outside with his sparkling gift box, he noticed something unusual.

Under a tall pine tree sat his friend, Bunny.

Bunny wasn’t smiling.

In fact, Bunny looked very sad.

“What’s wrong?” Little Bear asked.

“I made cards for everyone,” Bunny sniffled softly. “But I don’t think anyone remembered me.”

Little Bear looked down at his big gift.

He had made it only for himself.

For a moment, his paws felt heavy.

He imagined opening it alone.

Then he imagined Bunny smiling.

Something warm and bright began to glow inside his chest.

The Choice

Little Bear took a deep breath.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Bunny,” he said gently, holding out the box. “This is for you.”

Bunny’s eyes widened in surprise.

“For me?”

Little Bear nodded.

Bunny opened the gift and gasped with joy. “It’s beautiful! Thank you!”

And just like that, Little Bear felt happier than he had all morning.

Happier than if he had opened it himself.

A Bigger Gift

Soon, the other animals gathered around. Seeing Bunny smile made them smile too. They began exchanging cards, hugs, and kind words.

Little Bear realized something important:

When you keep a gift, it makes one heart happy.

But when you share it, it makes many hearts shine.

From that Valentine’s Day on, Little Bear no longer asked, “What will I get?”

Instead, he asked, “Who can I make smile?”

And his heart felt bigger every year.
