In a quiet forest meadow lived a little pig named Piko. Piko loved playing in soft, wet mud more than anything else. Every day he rolled happily in puddles, splashing and laughing as mud covered his pink skin. To Piko, mud was fun, and taking a bath seemed completely unnecessary.
Whenever his friends gathered to play, Piko joined them with great excitement. But after a while, the other animals began to notice a strong smell coming from him. The rabbit wrinkled his nose, and the duck quietly stepped away. Soon the friends started playing farther from Piko, which made the little pig feel confused and a little sad.
One afternoon Piko walked slowly by the river and met the wise old turtle who lived there. The turtle looked at Piko kindly and said, “You seem unhappy today, little one.” Piko sighed and replied, “My friends don’t want to play with me anymore, and I don’t know why.” The turtle gently smiled and said, “Sometimes our habits can affect others more than we realize.”
The wise turtle continued, “Playing in the mud is fun, but staying dirty all the time can make others uncomfortable and can even make you sick.” Piko thought carefully about the turtle’s words. “So what should I do?” he asked quietly. The turtle nodded toward the clear river and said, “A good bath can keep you healthy and help your friends feel happy around you.”
Piko looked at the sparkling water and slowly stepped into the river. At first he felt strange washing away all the mud, but soon he began to enjoy the cool water. When he finished, his skin was clean and shiny again. Piko felt lighter, fresher, and somehow happier.
The next day Piko met his friends in the meadow again. The rabbit smiled, the duck happily waddled closer, and everyone welcomed him warmly. “You smell nice today, Piko!” they said with cheerful voices. Piko laughed and realized that being clean made playing together even more enjoyable.
From that day on, Piko still loved jumping in muddy puddles, but he always remembered to wash himself afterward. He understood that taking care of his cleanliness helped both his health and his friendships. And whenever young animals asked him why he bathed after playing, Piko would smile and share what he had learned.
The moral of the story is that cleanliness is important not only for our health but also for living happily with others.
