Once upon a time, in a land where stories bloom like wildflowers, two frogs lived on the lush banks of a shimmering green lake.
They spent their days leaping across the cool water, filling the air with cheerful frog songs that echoed through the reeds. Life was playful, peaceful, and full of gentle ripples.
But when summer arrived, the world around them began to change.
The sun grew hotter, the earth cracked under its heat, and day by day the lake shrank until it was little more than a patch of mud.
“We can’t stay here any longer,” said one frog at last. “We must find a new home—someplace cool and full of water, or we won’t survive.”
The other frog nodded solemnly, and together they set off on a journey.
They hopped far and wide, and one day they came upon a deep, deep well filled with cool, clear water. Trees circled it like guardians, and the air around it felt wonderfully refreshing. The first frog, enchanted, leapt to the edge and gazed down at the glimmering surface.
“Come on, brother!” he cried. “Let’s climb down. It’s perfect—cool, full of water, and safe. This could be our new home!”
But the second frog hesitated. He peered into the depths of the well, thinking quietly.
“My brother,” he said at last, “if this well ever dries up, how will we get out again? What if we need to leave one day? A place that’s easy to jump into isn’t always easy to escape.”
The first frog, eager to reach the water, tried to persuade him, but the thoughtful frog stood firm.
“Let’s keep going,” he insisted. “We’ll find another place—one that won’t trap us.”
Though disappointed, the first frog reluctantly agreed, and the two continued on their way.
Days later, as they rested beside another lake, they heard a surprising piece of news: the well they had found on their journey had dried up completely.
The thoughtful frog turned to his companion.
“See?” he said gently. “Had we gone down there, we might be struggling for our lives right now.”
From that day on, the frogs understood that things are not always as they seem, and that it is wise to think before leaping—no matter how tempting a choice may appear. Wherever they traveled, they savored every drop of cool water with a newfound sense of gratitude.
And so they lived happily ever after, each carrying the same lesson in their hearts: a hasty decision can be dangerous, but careful thinking is always a friend.
